Show Christmas Display. A walk last evening through tho business streeLs of the city was well reaid by tho line exhibition of holiday holi-day goods in the various show windows win-dows of the leading firms. Everywhere Every-where ihe nas shone over rich goods, aud ta.-tel'ully arranged displays; and, if any of the throng that stripped to linger and indulge in a look at the attractions, had a few spare dimes, they could not long be contained .in their pockets. It was especially gratifying grat-ifying to a Ii:i;ai.d reporter to note that among the mot attractive windows win-dows were those of the advertising patrons of tins paper; whether it was at the e 'tahlUhment of Barratt, Cul-mer, Cul-mer, Taylor it Cutler, Wallace, Teas-del, Teas-del, Cunnington, Walker Bros., Liddell Lid-dell & Brown. Davis, the Z. C. M. I. in its various dfpnrtmonte, the different differ-ent markets, and many other firms that we might enumerate, in every case the same live enterprising spirit that induces judicious advertising was also displayed in the stocks of goods offered tor Christmas and holiday week. At B:irratt's were to be seen silverware, silver-ware, toilet sets, ehromos, bronzes, china and parian ware, and other articles ar-ticles in his line that could not fail to charm. G. F. Cnlmer it Co. exhibited a full stock .of fine. Curistmas fruits, canned goods, provisions, and groceries. groce-ries. Taylor & Cutler showed even-thing in the shape of furnishing, and dry goods. Henry Wallace, had ' his window loaded-wkh nuts, raisins and candies of 'every shape", color and quulity. 'feasdel 6c Co. attracted with their groceries, fruits, candies, shawls, furs, dress goods, etc. Cunnington i Co. displayed their sugars, eulle.es, teas, pickles, canned goods, etc. Walker Bro. offered dress goods, shawls, furs, ladies' cloths, flannels, and an endless variety of holiday goods. Liddell fc Brown, in addition to their large lots of general groceries, had their front adorned with a tempting tempt-ing array of iiit poultry. Davis was proud over his canned and dried fruits, candies, and plain and fancy groceries. The Z. ( M. I. showed at the Old Constitution building a fine display of mirrors, silver ware, groceries and confecrioneriesv Joslin it Park dazzled -wich their diamond, coral, pearl, jet, and every-style every-style of f:L-hionablc jewelry. Car! C Assumsseu displayed to" the best advantage watches, bracelets, rings, chains, lockets, charms, &c. Tlie Eagle Emporium charmed all of the ladies villi i,is suits, dresses, furs, shawls, jackets and rediugdtcs.1 Dun ford fe Sons had their bats, caps, boots, shoes and slippers sot out in taking form. And so it went all aromd town, crowds ot admiring people noting each particular object of inU rest and investing in whatever most touched their laney or their necessity first demanded. de-manded. The market men were behind no other class in exhibiting their choice meats of all kinds, Wood fe Petersen,' Garrett, Keiser and others, showing such line, fat, choice, solid, and. substantial sub-stantial beef, pork, muiton, venison, ducks, geese, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, rab-bits, and other meats in fchuge quantities, quan-tities, that it seemed as if every man, woman, and child in the city might leel sure to-day of tlie very juciest Christmas dinner that heart could wish or stomach digest that is, if they had the money lo buy withal; and if to-day isn't a "Merry Christmas" Christ-mas" in Salt Lake it will not be for lack of exertion upon the part of the merchants and business houses. |
