Show Runaway. About noon ycitcrday there was the most remarkable runaway runa-way of the season. A span of horses started with a wagon, from First South street, and ran at a furious speed down tho sidewalk from the Co-operative corner, to Walker Bro's. store; then, turning the corner, they ran through a crowd of men on Second South street, and went up West Temple street, opposite op-posite the Townsend bouse, where they ran the wagon against a tree and stopped, stop-ped, with nothing broko except the doubletrees. At the time they started down the side-walk, it was crowded with people, who all, strange to say, succeeded ia getting out of the way, without iniary. If there was ever a oase where a sound and substantial "reprimand," administered by tho police judge, was needed, it is this, whero a man by his carelessness, endangered en-dangered the lives and limbs of hundreds hun-dreds of people. The paymeut of a fine would have an effect upon the wilful negleot of those who do not tie their teams when they leave them alone. 1 This runaway business is becoming monotonou.-;,still. after the experience of Saturday, there 'is a prospcot that some of these days we may have to chroniclo tho more interesting item of a few peoplo being killed, and work furnished for tho coroner. |
