| Show FACTS concerning THE ROAD HOUSE mrs oday not serving a jail sentence merely paying fine Fi neThe the resort is permanently closed jan 1912 I 1 have read with some degree of wonderment tile the write ups in the last three or four editions of the weakly reflex of kaysville Kays ville concerning 0 the roadhouse and its occupants at st joseph in the south end of davis county one would conclude that is not at a all familiar with the roadhouse road bouse or the carryings carry ings 0 on there that the writer for the reflex had spent a great fr I 1 e at deal of his time there of late but to one that is at all familiar with the facts concerning the roadhouse he would come to the conclusion that the reflex writer had depended wholly upon his imagination and had let that get bethe athe best of him the reflex for the three or four editions prior to the last one has been howling 0 itself hoarse about the conditions at and around st joseph which was bad elou enough 0 ii we will admit but not near so bad as the imagination of the reflex would try to have you believe and for which the authorities of davis county have been striving hard bard to close down and shut up and after setting up this howl their sheet bearing M the date of jan 1912 starts off something so methin aliks lik s this are we vre to be censured for saying we think the tiia proposition of locking a woman mrs oday up in the little county jail with a lot of men one of reproach now for the benefit of the reflex I 1 will say that mrs oday is in jail paying a fine of that was imposed upon her by the hon P P willay will ay justice of the peace of bountiful city for selling liquor w without phout a license and is not serving it a joil sentence she got a il jail it sentence but through the mercy of the court that was sus banded but the fine must be pai paid id or served out in j til now if the reflex or any other of mrs oday g sympathetic friends want to get her out of jail they can do so by coming up with in cash and paying her tine mrs oday claims to be worth and it seems to me that she could easily pay that tine fine and gether get her freedom but she islay is laying in in jail looking for someone to come around chos sympathy is the largest part about them and spread the awful news for her and she seems to get one once in awhile so far as iam I 1 am personally concerned if she would rather lay in jail jah at the rate of a dollar a day than to pay that fine all well and 0 good but for the benefit of all in the county I 1 would rather see her pay tb the efine fine the money looks good As for mrs oday being lock up with a lot of men that is another one of those dreams I 1 will just say for the benefit of those that are not so well informed as the reflex appears to be that mrs oday is locked up in a very nicely fixed up cell all to herself and furnished with a new spring cot with bedding with toilet and water tap connected to city water with a coal oil stove that keeps it nice and warm she cannot see any of the other prisoners neither can they see her until the jailor unlocks her door anyway we e think we can see the finish of the roa roadhouse dhouge for the present at least as the proprietress etress is in jail and the freed furniture and carpet co have rep levied all their f furnishings arni shiner s it at the roadhouse and took it back ba 1 V ti salt lake city so I 1 think it is is a good jb jab well done A subscriber |
