Dodge, statistician of the department of agriculture, indicates the comparative production of wheat, oats and barley, and the condition of the corn crop on the 1st of October. The record of the yield of wheat is quite variable, va-riable, fclome States have superior crops-others crops-others have almost tho poorest ever grown. The New England States have nearly sustained their usual average. The Aliddle Slatos and Maryland together, togeth-er, have reduced their last year's aggregate aggre-gate from thirty-seven million bucnela to twenty-four million. Tho Southern ttates from Virginia to Tennessee, are known to have an enlarged production of fifty per cent., or irom 18,000,000 bushels to twenty-seven million. California Cali-fornia has increased its products at least 75 per cent. Minnesota and Iowa made a matei ial increase; while Missouri and Kansas, the former growing winter wheat mainly, and lattor both winter and spring, have had a comparative j failure in both varieties. Virginia and ! Kentucky had good crops; ilary-j ilary-j land and Ohio return diminished yields, us does the entire district between be-tween Ohio and lakes Miami and itud-I itud-I sou. Between twelve and thirteen bushels to the acre may he considered an average fur the United States. The quality in moet of the States is bettor thun last year. Washington, 24. Tho horse disease is seriously alluding transportation and business of all kinds here and in Brooklyn, Brook-lyn, having made alarming progress in the past twenty-four hours.
