Show 1. A. A. M. Socicty- The board met l:ist evening, A. P. Knekwood in the chair. Mr. Wallace reported that tlic commit com-mit t-o apMjinted at the last meeting to (iliei t and forward for exhibition in the Pennsylvania Horticultural So-: ciety's annual Fair, specimens of fruit, had expressed by Wells, Fargo J: Co., to Philadelphia, specimens of twenty-sir srjrittieg of apples, sixteen varieties of peJis and eleven varieties of plums. Mr. Kockwood, chairman of the committee on Fair grounds, reported that he bad secured tho Tliirteenth Ward Assembly Rooms in which to hold the forthcoming annual Fair. The committee was instructed to make the. necessary arrangements for the exhibition. Agent MeMaslers reported that he had received much encouragement from manufacturers, mechanics, artisan?, ar-tisan?, etc., many of whom were preparing pre-paring to exhibit specimens of their manufactures and workmanship nt the coming Fair. The jigent was instituted in-stituted to. viit the northern settlements settle-ments in the interests of the society. Mr. K. L. Campbell, secretary, was requested to inform those intending to send fruit from a distance to the j Fair, to wrap it carefully in paper, to prevent, bruising. A special committee was appointed ' to confer with the railroad suparin-tcudcuLs, suparin-tcudcuLs, with a view to securing rc-: rc-: dueed rates of fare for passengers 1 visiting the Fair, also to ascertain what arrangements could be made relative to the transportation, over 1 their roads, of articles for exhibition at the Fair. The meeting then adjourned to Friday Fri-day evening, at 7 o'clock. |
