Show Steamboat Excursion. Commodore Commo-dore Jacobs keeps up his excursions on the Lake, and they appear in have lost none of their interest for the citiiens and tourists. One of the pleasantest character left Lake Point on Tuesday morning. It was composed of parties from this city, GrantsvUle, Tooele, Stockton and Lake Point. A portion of those from the city who participated in the excursion left here on Monday afternoon, reaching the boat at dark and spending the night on board. Here they were joined by commodore Jacobs, who was just in from his new smelting works at Stocktoo, and all sat down to an elegant supper at eight o'clock. After a delightful evening, enlivened by Bong and story, the sleeping sleep-ing accommodations of the steamer were tested and were found ample. An invigorating Bwitn next morning gave a zest to the appetite for such a breakfast break-fast as the steward, Sam Lancaster, is alone competent to prepare. By ten o'clock the Btage was in from the city, the excursionists were all on board, the whistle sounded, and the steamer was off with all her colors flying. Moving eastward along the margin of the lake, a fine view was afforded of the mountain moun-tain ranges and the distant city. Approaching Ap-proaching the islands "Itcck-ribbol and anciont as the sun," their rugged and forbidding aspect was rendered apparent, while the distant panorama of lofty mountain and village-dotted village-dotted plain, was wondrous fair to look upon. A sumptuous dinaer was served , at two, and at half past three tho steamer stea-mer was again at her wharf. The excursion was voted a delightful one by all, and the praises of commodore com-modore Jacobs, captain Dorris, and the other officers, were universal. They were everywtiero present among their guests, making everybody happy by the kindly nianucr in which the many drafts upon their good nature wero honored. The commodore proposes the lat , excursion from Lake Side, on Saturday Satur-day next, tho train leaving the Utah Central depot at 2.45 p. m. and returning return-ing at midnight, thus combining an afternoon and moonlight view of the lake and its surroundings, with supper and music and danciog on board. It will be largely patronised. |
