The majority report ol the lloosac tunnel railroad committee commit-tee of tho Massachusetts legislature, providing for the consolidation of a number of railroads into one corporation corpora-tion under tho name of the Boston & North Western railroad company, is regarded hero na tho beginning of a detection of thoso currents of trade that have hithorto made New York the shipping locus of the continent. The consolidated company, it ia provided, pro-vided, shall operate the Hoosao tunnel and its approaches, but all railroad corporations connectinc therewith or with the Boston fc North Western railroad shall possess the right of sending their cars and passengers and freight, through the tunnol upon equal terms and with equal facility. It is also provided that the commonwealth may, alter six months notice, take i possession of the road of the consolidated consoli-dated company. |
