On Hall's trial today, to-day, Garvey testified that in April, 1870, he had bills against the city. "Woode-ward, "Woode-ward, of tho board ot supervisors, asked me how much was due me, and I told him as near as 1 could, and he gave me instructions to make out the bills, and that I should have thirty-fivo per cent, of the whole bill. Watson, after that, told me I should have my money if I followed in&tructiont, I did so. The gross amount of the bill was $395,000, of which 1 expected to get back for work done or in progress $110,900 for the court house, Siio.tAK) for the armories armo-ries and company otHces, $JiO,000 for ihe court builGing, and 5o0,0U0 cash advanced, ad-vanced, and said to be for Tweed. Houghton objected to the testimony about the $60,UUU as not affecting tho defendant Judge Brady said, "Is it it not immaterial for what purpose the additions to tho bill were made, and which were not for work done. " Treniaino said he proposed to show that the defendant, when tbe bill was presented, asked whether this was one of tbe bills in which Tweed was interested, inter-ested, and on being answered affirmatively, affirma-tively, signed it. (Sensation.) The court decided to hear tbe testimony. testi-mony. Witness: Fifty thousand dollars dol-lars was for Tweed, in A'bany ; $13,010 for worL on the house and premises of E. N. Tho mayor asked him, "are these Tweed's matters '!'' Witness said "yes;" and the mayor signed them. Peckham here proposed to show that, from and prior to JtVJ, there was a continuous arrangement ar-rangement by which a certain amount wat deducted by Tweed's orders from Garvi-y'a bills. Witness paid Tweed fifteen per ceiit. of bis bills at first. Watson to d him to do as Woodward told him, and in order to get paid ho had to do so. Woodward gradually raised the amount to tio per cent. He had little connection with mayor Hall subsequently. Witness had a warrant for $16,000 which tho mayor signed, but not uutil the witness wit-ness and Ingersoll hud sent hiui a present of silver ware, Tho mayor here asked tho witness if ho didn't recollect telling him (tho mayor) that his bills werojust.
