Editors Salt Lake Bcrald : It is said that "coming events cast their shadows beforo," and so it is with some. We hear their noise, also; but not so with the event I am now about to narrate, Lo tho astonishment of many, and those, too, who live in the immediato vicinity. Tho ground was broken by strong mules and energetic men, to day, for the Biocham Canyon railroad. Mr. Hugh White, the superintendent superintend-ent of the road, is a live man, who in connection with Mr. Salisbury, made it possible that people living south of Salt Lake city, about three or four years ago, oould get their mail matter according to contract From my personal per-sonal knowledge of the man, the road will be pushed with a vim, Mr. Smith, with his able corps of engineers, as soon as they could be spared from the American Fork R. R., started the surveying of this line. They are energetic, working men, and will soon have all tho road in readiness readi-ness for tho graders. Tho first contract con-tract from junction with U. S, R. R. to the Jordan river, one and a half miles, has been taken by myself and Win. F. Fisher, of Richmond, Caohe county. We have a stroDg force and will "pop it through." A friend to procress, MiLO ANDRUS. P. S. Work on the road commenced the day that superintendent White began be-gan his 28th natal year. May he buiid many railroads. Ho who improves the earth is a publio benefactor. M. A. |
