Show City Council. Meeting of the City Council, Tuesday Tues-day evening, Mayor Weils presiding. Petit ion of Croekwell & Trumbo to carry on an auction business on First South street, between East and West Temple streets, for a term of one year, was granted. Petition ol'J. h. Higg-s engineer of the city lire engine, asking leave of absence for a term of from three to six months, was referred to the chief engineer, who was authorized to act as he saw lit in the matter. Theodore M Ivcau, Esq., superintendent superin-tendent of water works, read propositions propo-sitions which he had received from W. J. Silver, Scott, Dunham fc Co., John Sloan & Co.. all ol Salt Lake City, and Lin forth, Kellogg it Co., of San r ranciseo, to furnish the corporation corpora-tion with I oiler iron water pipe; lie also exhibits! to tlie Council the specimens spe-cimens of finished pipes from the hmer works of John Sloan tfc Co., which had been on exhibition at the i Territorial Fair.
