Show ! The Baldwin Expedition. From a letter received by a gentleman gentle-man in this city from Major M. A. Baldwin, head of the Baldwin Expedition, Expe-dition, dated St. George, Oct. oth, we learn the following : The Expedition had made the tour of Iron County and hud located some valuable iron leads, from which about twenty tons of lino iron ore had been extracted. Professor Blossom riiad kept his furnace smoking almost niglit and day, assaying ores from Star and Beaver, and from different points alout St. George nnd in Arizona. Ari-zona. Major Baldwin w:is IO leave St. George on the Oth to inspect sonic mines in Arizona, and expected to be absent about eight days. Frum St. George the Expedition were to go to Kanarra to prospect lor coal, and thence back to Beaver and Star District. Their animals, at the date of writing, were all sound, and it is expected that they will ha absent two months longer; or until the middle mid-dle of December. |
