The horsedisease continues con-tinues its ravages. jSot a score of horses in the city and neighborhood are unaf-hicted, unaf-hicted, although very few fatal cases have been reported. All business is more or less affeoted ; merchants are hiring men and boys to transport their goods; the street cars are not running, and the livery stables are closed. The disease prevails in the surrounding country as extensively as in the eity, and it is stated that only in cases where bleeding has been resorted to have the horss died: Boston, 23. The horse epidemic is seriously hurting business and ttavel. Springfield, Mass., 23. Seventy cases of horse disease here; none fatal. Syracuse, 23. Tho horse epidemic is spreading rapidly; four hundred are aflycted, including those of the lire department, de-partment, and street railways; also a hundred carriage horses. The secretary of the treasury has issued is-sued the following instructions to tho collectors at Koch ester, Burlington, Cupe Vincent and Port Huron: "You aro directed, so long as tho existing horse disease prevails in Canada, to allow no horses to be brought into your port or district from that country, unless perfectly satisfied ihat they aro free from contagious diseases."
