Show T hear re. "East and West" was i repeated last night and everything went smoothly. Tho sensation scenes were given with due effect, and with the improvement on the previous performance per-formance that was expeoted. Tho fly wheel revolved, the stamp mill crushed, crush-ed, and the train on the high bridge passed rapidly over tho head of the heroic Ella, as she hung by the hands through the trestle work, to the satisfaction of tho audience. As tho drama was performed last night it seemed a different piece, for while the comedy of Mi&s Walters and Mr. Harris Har-ris kept the audience fully alive on Tuesday evening, last night the sensational sensa-tional effects excited a stronger interest and more impulsive feelings, while all the cast played with an ease that showed show-ed acquaintance with their work and heightened the attractiveness of tbo drama. In "East and West" Mr. Bates has a piece that will have lengthened length-ened runs, for U contains all the elements ele-ments of success. It will oj repeated again to-night. |
