House Dawes from tho committee on ways and means, reported a bill abolishing tbo offices of aeseors and assistant asssorB of internal in-ternal revenue, and transferring their duties to collectors. After the bill was read Dawes moved to amend by fixing tbe time for it to go into operation at July 1st, Senate. On motion of I'Yulioghuy-sen I'Yulioghuy-sen tbe rulo requiring tbe election of ohairmeo of standing committees by ballot was suspended. Standing and select committeos were then elected. The noanco coturuittflc wero instructed to inquire into aod report as early as practicable what legislation is necessary to relievo tbe stringency of the money market and the propriety of issuing additional legal tenders. |
