The "Tribune" says the Misses Greeley are unwilling uDder any circumstances to consent that the plan of subscription tor their benefit be oarricd out. It will be a work of time to determine tbe condition of Greeley's estate, but hswever it may havo been impaired by a liberality, perhaps too great, or by a loan of his own credit to those who proved unworthy un-worthy of it, or by an over-wcening confidence in men's promises, there in, it is probable, enough remaining to quiet tbe generous apprehensions of the community. Tho Misses Greeley will jeio- m- contributing for tho purpose pur-pose of erecting a statue to their lather, to perpetuate his memory. Miss Ida suggests that the floral decorations de-corations of Dr. Cbapin's church be disposed of for the benefit of the Old Ladle' Home. |
