Show Salt Lake City as a Mining Centre. We havo claimed that Salt Lake city as a mining centre had no superior, if an equal, and every day adds fresh proof that we have not been mistaken, as new districts are being organized or-ganized and new mines discovered and developed. We are surrounded at a convenient dhtancefrom all, by a cordon of mining localities, whose mineral wealth has not only made them noted ' athome, but has caused them to attract " no inconsiderable degreo of attention abroad. The great Wahsatch range on tho east is literally dotted with mines, some uf which have attained a world-wide celebrity. On the south and west are numerous mining districts which have already asserted a prominence. promi-nence. The precious metals are found in them in paying quantities, and they contain copper, lead, iron and other of the baser class to an almost unlimited extent. Besides these, no doubt other rich mineral districts remain yet undiscovered, undis-covered, which will bo unearthed in duo time, all of which must necessarily pay tribute to a common centre, and that centre in tho very fitness of things is, nnd must he, Salt Lrko city. |
