S. district court of California, praying that the Pacifio insurance company of San Francisco ho declared bankrupt, they having failed to pay the losses by tho tiro in Chicago of the said linn. The company was ordered lo show cause why it should not bo de clared bankrupt. The insuranco commissioner com-missioner has extended the timo for repairing tho capital till 25th January. Tho attorney-general of Cahlbrnia, has brought suit on behalf of tho People Peo-ple of the State of California against tho Peoples' insurance company, to tihow cause why, being insolvent, its business should not bo closed. Tho sale of delinquent stock in the Union insuranco company was advertised adver-tised on Monday; but before that timo every dollar of the assessment had been paid in, and the sale did not take place. The assessment was l" per share, aggregating ag-gregating $3.17, "jOO, for the payment of tho Chicago fire losses. All but $(it),-000 $(it),-000 was paid before the stock became delinquent. ' The sale of delinquent stock in tho Fireman's Fund company took place on Monday. At the hour of sale, 500 oi' stock was delinquent, and $15,-000 $15,-000 was sold for tho assessment. |
