Show Railroads in Utah. The Utah Southern railroad is chartered to connect con-nect with tho 35th parallel railroad, and although not endowed by government govern-ment land or money, and dependent entirely upon individual capital, will probably bo finished to St. George, about 400 miles south from Salt Like oity, at a comparatively early day. Commenced last fall, it is completed and in use for eighteen miles from Salt Lake city, and the grading is finished some distance further. President Jennings Jen-nings announces that it will bo completed com-pleted to Payeon, CO miles, this summer, sum-mer, and will be continued as fast as possible towards St. George. Its rapid construction is guaranteed by the fact that it extends through valley settlements settle-ments bordered by mountains teeming with ores. It pays now, and promises to pay moro largely when completed to St. George. At Payson it will command com-mand tho trade of tho rich mineral districts dis-tricts around Piocho, as it will afford feasiblo and cheap connection between the mines and sources of supply. Every Ev-ery depot will be a diverging point to rich mining districts on either side, and the freighting of ores and mining machiuory ami supplies alono, justify its early completion. The building of this railroad is in tho hands of the Mormons, but their interests requiro it shall be built, and they can and do build and operate railways for half the money it costs an American company. Tho road, when completed to St. George, leaves a gap of about lTo miles to be completed to tap tuo 35th parallel railroad near Foil Mohave, giving St. Louis two lines of railway to Salt Lake and the great mineral re-iiiuDuf re-iiiuDuf which it is the centre.
