Show An Km'lanation Nekpv.p. The j Salt hake correspondent of tho Jf ew York 'Times says that the speech ol Hon. Thos, Fitch delivered in the constitutional con-stitutional convention, in which the judicial ju-dicial acts of judge MeKcao were reviewed, re-viewed, "for bitterness of invective, recklessness of statement and utter dis-rogavd dis-rogavd of truth, may challenge comparison compar-ison with anything of the kind iu the English tongue." Mr. Fitch's statements, thus characterized as reckless, reck-less, were verbatim extracts from the court reports as made by Mr. James L. High, who is the sworn official reporter of the court, and wo believe correspondent corres-pondent of the New York Timet; the letter which contains the language quoted bearing his initials, "J. L. H." It might bo interesting to know what il.rcc of reliability the readers of the Tutus may attach to the statements oi a correspondent, who declares that reports published in the paper of which he was editor, as official, arc designated as reckless statements and showing an "utter disregard of truth." Will ''J. L. H,"risc and explain? |
