Show Star District. Ths following is an extract from a letter dated February 20th, received by a gentleman of this city from an acquaintance of his in this district: Wo have it in contemplation to put up a mill, and I am trying to get all the information I can on the subject. As to my having a "good thing" in mines, I think I havo tho best prospects pros-pects for one in the district, I havo not mado sufficient development yet to be perfectly assured, but I am sinking a shaft which is now eighty feet deep, and running a tunnel. I have about U"0 tons of good milling ore on tho dump, which will pay for all tho development; de-velopment; The ore now coming out, though not much in quantity is very rich in quality, assaying over $400 per ton, and I believe will be getting richer as wo go down. A great many locations are being made and new ones discovered every day. Some prospectors ore coming from tho north and there is a chance yet of finding something if one cynics properly prepared with provisions, tools, &c A good, many come without anything, and as there is not much work to be got to earn money, they have to go away again. I never saw a district where there was so much indication on the surface, and if as.I tell 0 , the district is not upside down we have certainly a very rich one. |
