Show By W. D. Tdcgraj.ii.l I TERRIFIC GALE. Montreal, 13. A teVrilic gale set in yesterday morning after heavy rain all night, doing serious damage to life and property. A large number of wooden tenements were blown down. The roof of the St. George church started during the service. The consternation was fearful, but no daraago was done beyond fright. Miss Annie,-a daughter daugh-ter of John Lowe, late of tho GaMte, was instantly killed by a falling tree, while passing lo a neighbor's house. It is hoped the fatal cases will not be many, but all are not yet ascertained. Many citizens wcro maimed by falling signs and oorniceB. Judgo Aylwin, one of tho most brilliant judges of the Canadian bench, died on Saturday. |
