Show THE COURT MUDDLE. The Salt Lake correspondent of the irgiaia Evening Chronicle, writes thus : The courts are io a cica muddle since the decision of the United States supreme court. Judge Strickland, while holding court in this city, stated that he would recognize the Territorial marshal and attorney aa the executive otficers of the court, but judge Hnwley poes to Beaver to hold court and has a deputy United States marshal acting. The deputy Territorial marshal vra.s pre?eot and ottered his services, but judge llawlcy declined to accept the same, and tays that the Territorial marshal has not the color of an office, and he will not FU-tain him; and that no officer in the Territory is authorized to issuo venire. There seems to be a slight diecrepancy csistng here between be-tween judge Hawiey on the one side and the United States supreme bench on the other. |
