It is announced positively that President Pres-ident (.Jrant has made all arrangements arrange-ments for a lengthened trip to the west coast, and will start in about a couple of months. lie will visit Salt Lako City, and from here go to Nevada, then on to San Francisco. After a short stay in California, it is announced he will go by steamer to Portland, Oregon; Ore-gon; and may probably extend his trip as far as the Sandwich Ldands The visit of a President of the United States to the west will he an event in history. True, general Grant will make the trip much more luxuriously than did the pioneers of this region and the earlier emignmts: but he will be bettor able to appreciate the changes tint have been wrought in the last twenty years than thousands who now " cro.-s the continent" conti-nent" tor the Cast time.
