Show The Death P salty. Many of the newspapers arc discussing the policy pol-icy of the abolition of the death penalty pen-alty for crime, and the preponderance of opinion is now in favor of it. Considering Con-sidering that, now-a-days, no man or woman is hung who has money or influential in-fluential friends, no matter how deep their guilt, and that the poverty of a culprit rather than his crime, subjects him to the paymont of the death penalty, pen-alty, it might bo well both as a matter of impartial justice and philanthropy to abolish this relic of the barbarous time when justice was meted to a man because ho was guilty, and not merely because he was poor. |
