Show MISERS' MEETING AT BIO COTTONWOOD. COT-TONWOOD. Big CoTTON'vrooD Canon, June 2nd, 1S71. Editors Herald: At a duly called miners' meeting which was held this day, at Whipple's Mill, A. Chadbourne in the chair, the by-laws of this mining district were thoroughly revised and other important import-ant business transacted. The object of this revision of the laws is to secure men in their mining claims, to make it impossible for claims to be jumped in this district and to prevent disputes among miners. A standing committee of three was appointed to act with the recorder in settling disputes re-i re-i specting locations of claims. This committeo consists of Richard Max-field, Max-field, H. W. Whipple and Robert Kenner. It was voted to print in pamphlet form the mining laws of this district and money was subscribed on the spot to pay for the same. It is hoped that every miner in the camp will secure a i copy and do his part to see that the i laws passed at this meeting are faith-. faith-. fully carried out. I The thanks of the meeting were pre '. sented to the presiding officer and t adopted. It was the most harmonious J and satisfactory meeting ever held in the canon, encouraging to honest miners and a caution to claim jumpers. I Yours, &c., H. C. HULLINGBR, Mining Recorder. |
