In the injunction suit to-day affidavits were read in behalf of Tweed, denying generally tho allegations al-legations of the complaint, and especially espe-cially that Ingersoll was ever his agent, or that the expenses of his department were ever in excess of what the law allowed. Counsel for plaintiff, Strahan, in submitting a motion for a decree on the papers before the court, said that lho plaintiff's charges arc in fact admitted, notwithstanding the affidavits of denial by the defendant s. He expressed tho belief that Tweed wa himself both tho Transcript and the printing company. It was unsatisfactory unsatisfac-tory to have a trial of the allegations aeaiust tho city officials made on affidavit. Democratic Nomination. Trenton. N. J., 13. -Tho Democratic Demo-cratic State Convention met to-day to nominate a candidate for Governor. Kx-Gnvercior Joel Parker, of Monmouth, Mon-mouth, was nominated by acclamation before the close of the first formal ballot. A Heavy Ucfmillcr. Washington, 13. Major J. K Hodge, deputy paymaster of the U. S. army, stationed in this city, is discovered dis-covered to be a defaulter to Government Govern-ment to a very large amount. The investigation in-vestigation is still incomplete, but enough is ascertained to show the amount of the defalcation to be at least from four to five hundred thousand dollars. He wus yesterday taken, by United States officers, to Fort Henry, by direction of the General of the army, who ordered him lo le placed in solitary sol-itary confinement in a guarded cell. Ms jar Hodge was appointed in 1S67, and stationed in this city. It is said that a year ago tho detectives discovered discov-ered that his financial affairs were in a loose condition, and that an investigation investiga-tion was ordered, but for some unknown un-known reason it never tok place. Detectives both here and in New York to-day are endeavoring, by inquiry at tho banks and elsewhere, to discover further information. It is suspected that other parties are involved in the defalcation. Mlnneiota Democratic Convention. ' St. Paul, 13.
