Show St. Patrick's Ball. St. Patrick's day was duly observed by the "Sons of the Sod" in this city, and while they were "happy though not hilarious," all was order and good feelings. In the evening a large assemblage congregated at Social Hall, and passed a most enjoyable time in the "giddy mazes of the dance. " An elegant and bountiful supper, spread with excellent excel-lent taste and style, was a leading feature fea-ture of the evening. Among the guests present were ex-; ex-; Governor Vaughan and lady, Secretary Secre-tary Black, Col. Nugent, U. S. A., j Col. D. 11. Buel and lady, Mr. McKee Rankin, Mr.Edward Reid.of "Reid's," and lady, Mr. and Mrs. McClosky, and Mis3 Miller, daughter of Jeremiah Miller, Esq., of San Francisco, in j charge of W. W. Mundy, Esq., a gentleman gen-tleman who is a guest of Dr. Vollum, I at Camp Douglas. The party was kept up with spirit until a late we nearly said an early hour. |
