A Colored page In Congress. Washington. 1. Thero are twenty pages in tlio House of'Represcntatives. Their appointments have been made at the instance respectively of the Republican Repub-lican delegations from the States, according ac-cording to custom. To-day, on the recommendation of Porter, Piatt and I lowell, of Virginia, tho white page from that State was superseded by the appointment of a colored youth from irgiuia. This is the first time a colored youth has been appointed a page in the House. The bill to enforce the 14th amendment amend-ment to the Constitution is under consideration con-sideration in the House to-day. Public Finances. Washington, 1.
