Show The Governor's Ouseqi its.-The obsequies of Governor Shaffer were conducted in strict accordance with the I order of exercises published by us yesterday yes-terday morning. The procession which j I accompanied the hearse to the depot i J was a most imposing one, and embraced em-braced officers, infantry and cavalry from Camp Douglas, the family, the acting Governor, the Federal officials, the bar, the Masonic fraternity, Territorial Terri-torial officials, Municipal officials, and a large number of prominent citizens in carriages and on foot, the band from Camp Douglas leading the procession playing appropriate music, and the infantry in-fantry marching with their arms reversed. re-versed. The body was enclosed in a fine metallic case, and bore simply the name of the deceased, with the date of his birth and death. Places of business bus-iness were closed, and all re.-.pect was paid to the departed Governor. The flags at half mast were displayed throughout the city from Monday morning until this morning, when the body was carried eastward by train. |
