Show A Hoax. It is the easiest thing in the world to make news. All that is required is an inventive imagination. Yesterday morning a dispatch was received re-ceived at the office of the Deseret Telegraph line in this city, in the following fol-lowing terms : Deseret Telegraph Office, Salt Lake City, Nov. 1st, 10:41) a.m. There was a heavy shock of earthquake earth-quake in San Francisco about five minutes min-utes ago, which lasted thirty seconds. The operator threw open his key and ran into the street. No further particulars par-ticulars as yet. Operator. Deeming an earthquake shock in San Francisco, of half a minute's duration, dura-tion, a matter of more than ordinary importance, we promptly bulletined it, and awaited further details with some anxiety. An application during the day to the Western Union office for some light on the subject, brought the following from the Treasurer of that line in San Francisco, to Mr. Croxall, in charge of the company's office hero.
