Show "Fritz "This celebrated German 1 emigrant, "Fritz A'on Yonderbiuken-Istoffeu," Yonderbiuken-Istoffeu," appears to-night at the i theatre in the person of Mr. J. K. j Emmet. "Our Cousin German," by I Chas. Gaylor, Esq., of which this character is the central attraction, has i created a wonderful sensation, through Mr. Emmet's personation of the lead tng role. The Gold Hill Xews, of last Fiiday, speaks thus of the actor and the acting : J. K. Emmet made his first appear-1 ance under a four nights' engagement j in accordance with announcement, and! a crowded and fashionable audience 1 .graced the occasion. Emmet is a success, suc-cess, lie is just the niau our theatregoers theatre-goers have been looking for, and all 1 present are glad he ha-s come. Wei come Emmet; welcome "Fritz! " He touched a sympathetic chord in tl'e soul of his audience, which awaited bul the touch of the master to awaken it to appreciative response, "Fritz, Our Cousin German," is most deservedly a very popular piece, and it cannot fail to be so wherever it is produced with Emmet in the title character. As a linguist and delineator, in his impersonation imper-sonation of "Fritz, " he out-Dutches the Germans, and portrays a character char-acter of true humorous attractiveness, as well as domestic beauty, pleasiug to the hearts of all, of whatever nationality. nation-ality. His songs, dances and character acts in the piece are all admirab'y given, and in a refreshingly original style, calling forth unlimited applause. As to his performance on that simple little instiument, the mouth harmoni-con, harmoni-con, it is realty marvellous. We have heard it played before, but are dow satisfied that Emmet is tLe only one who ever played it right, or propeily developed ihe true melodic capacities of the instrument. We can assure the public that in Mr. Emmet's performance of Fiitz they will enjoy a great treat, if universal approval and unqualified success everywhere he has appeared may be accepted as sufficient suffi-cient evidence in his favor. |
