Show In Town'. We met yesterday J.W. Haskin, of Vallejo, California, who has been in town, stopping at the Townsend House, for a. few days on business connected with mining matters. mat-ters. The gentleman is one of the representative men of the west men who have seen wide changes of fortune, for-tune, and by indomitable perseverance, energy and enterprise have hewn to themselves fortunes out of material from which others less determined and with less foresight would have turned away disheartened. The California Pacific railroad, which he was one of the leading lead-ing spirits in building, has been lately sold to good advantage, and we should presume he might now retire from business and take it easy if the habits of an active life would permit him to do so. He will probably remain in town a few days longer. |
