Show THE "GEXTILE" OPINION. The Gentile opinion of Judge McKean Mc-Kean and the ilerald in Salt Lake is quite satisfactory to us, A late prominent promi-nent citizen of Omaha, a gentleman widely known for intelligence and responsible re-sponsible character, writes to a friend in this place, under the date of March" 26, as follows: "Say to Doctor Miller that his article On Judge McKean's address to the grand and petit juries here is heartily indorsed by a large share of the Gentile Gen-tile population; few indorse the Judge except those bitter against the Mormons. Mor-mons. If officials and 'high privates' who come here will attend strictly to their duties, and not go out of their way to give Mormons and Morrnouism a kick, diere is not a community on the continent conti-nent where they can get along so peaceably and with so much good feeiing. - We may disagree with tbe Mormons all we please as to their peculiar pecu-liar views, and they respect us so long as we do it in a manner as we would like to be done by. But they won't stand insults and domineering treatment treat-ment any more than we would. And as to their disrgarding laws, I consider it all bosh. As a rule, I think they are a law-abiding and orderly set of people. That there are scoundrels among them, as among us, no one will doubt. Even Brigham, publicly in the Tabernacle, has warned the Gentiles and Mormons to beware, and guard against being swindled by certain dishonest dis-honest Mormons." Omaha Herald. |
