We got soi l on We-lne-day niglit badly .'old. We inwsted twen-ly twen-ly five cents to hear "Dr.", i'inkham lecture on "phrenology and anthropology," anthropo-logy," and ia less than as many minutes got a heavier dose than we could endure. Still, if the lecture didn't amount to much, it was about as bright as the audience was large; certainly, he wasn't too well paid for what he did and sa:d. 1'robably if he had understood his subject he would have talked about it. but as he didn't seeem to know tuuch, if any thing, concerning it, he did the next best thing, as he supposed, we presume, pre-sume, and the evening being warm, told nice little namby-pamby stories suitable for children, with an independence inde-pendence of the simplest rules of grammar that was refereshing. And, then, his display of hi.-torical lore was powerful! How he must have delighted de-lighted in the discovery that "Abra i am Lincoln had often in the midst of blood and carnage told his humorous anecdotes." We p-esume Grant and Sherman and Sheridan and others were busy in Washington with the affairs of the nation, while Lincoln was crack ing jokes surrounded by whizzing balls and t he groans of the ding, as the numerous battles in which he figured were being fought! We recomnied "Dr." Pinkham to announce his next course as lectures on "Phunnyology," and not let the printer make the horrible mistake of making it appear Phrenology. The "Dr" may be a very learned man, and an honest man, and all that; but his lecture on Wred-nesday Wred-nesday night was a huge "sell." Cigars.
