Show GBAERAL. The Southern P. R. R. Washington, 3. At a meeting of the conferenc i committee on the Southern South-ern Paeifio railroad bill yesterday, the committee on the part of the House receded from the position assumed as-sumed by the House the other day. when tho bill was reported by Wheeler and passed. The debate at that time showed a determination to have nothing to do with anything but a trunk bne lrom .Marshall, Texas, to Sau D;ego, California. The Gulf and Pacific States uuited in the Senate, and thus compelled the recosnition of New Orleans aud San Francisco interests. According to the bill, as agreed on, in conierence, the. road at its California terminus -from the neighborhood of Fort l utna, is allowed to go to a point in the mountain range in the 35th parallel, at or near where the South Pacific or California is now constructing. The Houe bill confirmed it to a direct Sau D.ago route. The projected line from New Orleans to Marshall is also incorporated in the bill. This loaves uut only so much of the origiual Senate, bill as p -rmitted the Tennessee and Aakansas lines to become part of the i Southern transcontinental system. I There is great dissatisfaction on the part ot the senators wno represent thee interests, and one or two of them have declared their intention of talking the bill to death unless allowed to come in. Tho f :eliug in the House seems somewhat antagonistic to the introduction introduc-tion of any branch; but the friends of tho bid mid its managers outside, arc quite confident of success.
