Show Mail 1'acilitiks Mkkpkd. yesterday yester-day the IIkrald lost ten subsciibcrs in one mining camp west of this city, solely because tke subscribers could not get their papers, tkey having no regular mail facilities. Occasionally a package would reach them through the courtesy of some person, but they never nev-er knew when to look for their papers, and generally got them when the news was old and stale. This actually shuts them off from news, fur if they cannot get one paper they cannot gut another. They want the Ukuald, and only stop i the copies because they are unable to ' get it in conse. pieties of bavin; no ! mail facilities. It is a serious matter for any community to be deprived of such means of communication, and one that claims prompt attention on tho part of those who have charge of mail affairs. In a brief conversation conversa-tion with Col. Wickizer on the subject j of Ophir city, he informed us that he had forwarded the petition from that place for a mail, and had expected some arrangement would have been made before. We invite his continued efforts in the matter, and those of our delegate, Hon. W. II. Hooper. |
