THE FLORENCE NOISELESS FAMILY SEWING MACHINE IS THE Standard Machine of the World! The Special Committee appointed to examine and report on Sewing Machines at Hie North Carolina State Fair, held at Kaleich last week, awarded a Gold Medal to t e Florence Sewing Machine for the ease and quietness of it s movement , perfection and large varlet y of work, and its valuable new features, making ma-king it the most valuable Sewing Machine for family use. Parties contemplating the purchase pur-chase of Sewing Machines are requested re-quested to read the following from the New York "Tribune" of Oct. 19th, 1870: SEWLXG MACHINES. We have recently had occasion to make some inquiries into the progress of improvement improve-ment in the mechanism of sewing machines, and were not a little surprised to learn that the central idea in the first invention the shuttle stilt holds its place, though many attempts have been made to supercede it. The shuttle, in combination with the needle, is still the means used to form the stitch, in the leading machines, and we find that the growth of trade is chiefly with the shuttle-using shuttle-using machines. The improvements that are taking firm hold in practical use are, therefore, necessarily necessa-rily in cjnnection with the shuttle, either in the detail of the shuttle itstdf, or in other parts of the machine connected with it, to cause the whole to operate more perfectly and uniformly, and to simplify its use. Mny important gains in this direction, made since the first great invention, are undoubtedly un-doubtedly embodied iu the "Florence" ma-chide; ma-chide; and we recommend our renders to carefully inspect the "Florence" before ma-kine ma-kine a choice. The points peculiar to this much ine aro : An unusual amount "f money ia spent in maKinj the "Florence," thereby scouring the be?! material (.steel, for instance, where others use cast-irn , and the rncst finish of important parts 'the shuttle, f-r example, beine ricidly rejected if it varic? from the standard 1-2.1 out h of an inch!' It constructed con-structed on the simple-t scientific principle.-, entirely dispensing with the our-, and cam-. and link? winch -Jo often got porver.-ely out of order and sorely perplex every one but the practiced machinist by their unaccountable unaccount-able freak. The "Florence" is pr ci-ily managed, and it.-u?e is so readily learnc-r, that an ordinary girl of ten has pen.-e and muscle enough t run it r r rfect 1 y. Th e lockstitch, lock-stitch, a. made by the "Florence" is very re.'ularand perfect, very -iron and clajtic, and is drawn into the fabric evenly, gradually, grad-ually, exactly, without jerking, and wiih..ut causing the .-earn to pucker, or straining the thread ro a$ to endanger it breaking: consequently, con-sequently, veiy fine threads and light t.ibrics can be u.-ed. The "Florence" i- the only machine that his a reversible iced, whereby the direction di-rection of the sewing can bo instantly changed without stopping tho work, thus enabling the operator to quilt or embroider 1 with ununua) facility, to sew backwards and easily strengthen a ream wherever derired, and. finally, by a few repeated stiiche-', to fasten ends in the nuirkest and Ftronrt way. It is the only machine that had -el f-adjuting f-adjuting phut tie-thread ten." ion, which works so perfectly that the operator can run across the heaviest seams and sew tho A neat linen and the thicken broadcloth in immediate imme-diate fucce-dion withont breaking tho thread and without changing tho needle, stitch or tension- The "Florence" draws the thread into the cloth with uneiualed precision and certainty, by means of an ingenious automatic auto-matic "take-op" wheel, which dispoenn of the slack thread left niter the Mitch with an accurate promptness that prevent all narl-ing narl-ing or dropping of stitches, and allows the operator to sew backward, or to run off the cloth and on again, with perfect impunity. It baa an improved elastic heuimcr, exclusively exclu-sively its own, which ;n mnnnned with ca-e, and will make a hem of any width on any material It not only makes a perfect gather and sews it to a band at one operation, bat it hems, and binds, and fells, and quilt, and cords, and tucks, and gather-, and braid without badtipg. Such special provision u made against Injurious wear thnt the "Florence" "Flor-ence" is claimed and guaranteod by the Com-pany Com-pany to last twice as long without repair ai any other shuttle machine iu the market. without the slightest difficulty. Every part of the "Florence" is ho poi fectly and permanently perma-nently adjusted, and it hiu so few joints and points of frlotion, that it rum with the utmost ut-most ease. The ncodlo is set and threaded, and the stitch is lengthened, s-hortcned, or reversed with tho ut-inont ut-inont eae. In uning the "Florence" neither the work nor tho operator's dress is liable to be soiled. The "Florenco" with all thrse claims to superiority, sells at tho same price as other firdt-claaa machines.
