The Denver aVeies has the following special telegram from Santa Fe, New Mexico, under date December 17 : The Daily Post of the 15:h has full particulars of the horrible tragedy which took place at Kl Pao, Texas, on the 7th in.-t. It appears that Senator Sen-ator Fountain got into a dispute with I B. F. Williams, a lawyer, who lire! a revolver at him twice, severely but not dangerously wounding him. "Williams then fled to his rooms, where Judge Gaylord J. Clark, of tho twenty -fifth Texas district, with a parfv of men followed and attempted to arrest him. when Williams rushed out with a double-barrelled gun and shofjud-e Clark through tile heart, killitor hou instantly. Captain French, of the state police, then fired at Williams and killed him instantly. Great excitement ex-citement prevailed, and the entire public sentiment was again-t Williams. Judge Clark's funeral was the most inipo-ing affair ever witne-sed in K! Paso. |
