Demanding Assistance for France. Chicago, Oct. 3. There was a meeting meet-ing of American positivists to day, and resolutions were passed to the effect that the time had come for a new direction di-rection in our international policy. The resolutions demand that government shall interfere in oehalf of the new French Republic. Fiance saved us in our trial, aud it is only just that we should come to her aid in her present extremity. San Francisco, Oct. 3. The overland over-land train was thrswn from the track yesterday near San Joaquin river bridge, by defective running gear. Three persons were slightly injured aud three ears smashed. There was only a short delav of the train.
