Show SUNDAY SCHOOL Large Attendance of Officers and Workers nt the Meetiiisr The officers and teachers of the Sunday Sun-day schools of the Salt Lake stake held their regular meeting last evening in the Fourteenth ward assembly rooms Superintendent i Su-perintendent Thomas C Griggs presiding Nearly all the schools of the city and several of the county schools were well represented Tho excellent musical exercises during the evening were given by the juvenile I music class of Prof E K Bassett composed I com-posed of children prom the various wards of the city Prayer was offered bv Elder E F Parry 1 As a preliminary to the exercises of i i the evening rendered by three of the I departments of the Seventh ward Sunday < Sun-day school Assistant Superintendent T H Woodbury made a brief address descriptive de-scriptive of this school and the character char-acter of the work done therein Miss Edith Sampson next conducted avery a-very Interesting and well prepared review I re-view of the work done in the First intermediate in-termediate department which had been i I studying the life of Jesus The review on this occasion related to the Blessing Bless-ing of Children by the Savior I The Second intermediate department next presented a sample lesson upon the Book of Mormon as regularly given I every Sabbath morning conducted by Sister Rose Wallace The lesson was preceded pre-ceded by a short synopsis of the studies of this class during the past ten months given by Belle McLachlan in a well pie pared essay The lesson was well presented and reflected re-flected much credit upon both teachers and pupils its subject was a portion of the Life of the Prophet Nephi The Mothers Lullaby was very I sweetly rendered by Bro Bassetts ju vtmilo choir The Theological department was represented I rep-resented by Bio J W Walker who gave a brief and interesting address upon the Lie of the Savior a subect which the higher department has been studying for some months past with gratifying success using as a text book Roberts Ecclesiastical History in conjunction with the Scriptures President Angus I Cannon mad a few encouraging remarks and admonitions admoni-tions dwelling particularly upon the order or-der of the Priesthood and the duties all aro under to heed its counsels Referring to the Sabbath schools and the stake conference he stated that as many had deemed i demoralizing to the schools to have them discontinued during the quarterly conferences it was decided three months ago lo continue the schools In session with the understanding that every elder that can be spared a well a the members of the theological cIaa = eS be excused from attendance in school that they may have opportunity ti at tend stake conference Superintendent Griggs acquiesced In the suggestions made by President Cannon Can-non and urged compliance with these regulations upon tho part of all the schools of the city and those contiguous I thereto The speaker felt gratified with I tner earnest worK none uy the Sabbath I school workers of this stake as shown by the reports received He urged the schools to again adopt the use of the S S leaflets a new series of which were now ready for distribution to the schools of the stake Meeting adjourned for one month and the benediction was pronounced by El der Levi W Richards c > J |
