Show PHOTOGRAPHIC FEAT New Method Successfully Taking Tak-ing Mountain Peaks Seattle Times Photographers more especially es-pecially amateur photographers are much Interested In photographing scenery par ticularly snowcapned peaks by means of the pew telephoto lens attachment the lens being but a short time since In vented Jn England To successfully pho tograph Mount Rainier from Seattle and at the same time Include a portion of the city In the lew so as to show how the scene appears from town has been tho ambition of many amateurs But the at tempts have hertofore Droved unsuccess ful Tie ordinary view lens takes In so much as aparently to diminish the size of the distant mountain An enlargement of a portion of the ordinary lens view would rot give the desired effect and it proved very unsatisfactory to photo granh Mout Ranier from a near range and then fake in a portion of the cir and foreground on the negative The new telenhoto lens acts colic contrary to an onllnary view lens It covers much less l country but brings that little up to start ling proportions A photograph of Mount Hood was recently secured from the ton of thn Oregonian tower by F A Routledse of the Oregonian art department and mem her of the Oregonian Camera club What makes the incident noteworthy is the fu t that It Is the first photographic view ever obtained from Portland that ever succeeded suc-ceeded n giving Portland an adequate idea of that mountains size as it appears to te eye when viewed from any emi nence be Portland The photoaranh was obtained by means of the telephoto lens attachment to the ordinary 5camera This lens had never heretofore been used In Portland |
