Show I MASmJG GRAND LODGE J F Hardie Elected Grand Master For the Ensuing Year J MURDOCK IS DEPUT A NTT3SEBEB OF THE OLD On CEES ADVANCED The New Officials Will Be Installed Tonight and the Ceremony Wile Wil-e Followed By a aqu tTe Session Has Been a Interesting iOn i-On The Masonic gland lodge after disposing dis-posing of much business yesterday afternoon proceeded with the most important Im-portant work in band the election of officers to serve for the ensuing year JOHN F HAnDlE GRAND MASTER Deputy Grand Master John F Hardie was chosen a grand master and James Murdock of Park City was elected deputy dep-uty grand master THE OTHER OFFICERS The other officers elective and appointive ap-pointive are George W Schramm Ogden Og-den senior grand warden C W Morse Salt Lake junior grand warden JohnS John-S Scott Salt Lake grand treasurer Christopher DIehl Salt Lake grand secretary Albert Charles Staten grand chaplain Harry Vail Cassady grand orator Frederick Clement Schramm Salt Lake grand lecturer Harwood Murray Cushing Salt Lake grand marshal Sidney Denton Evans Salt Lake grand standard bearer Harmon Swazey Mar grand sword bearer Freeman A McCarty senior grand deacon Elijah Bowen junior grand deacon Samuel Le Page Raddon Park City senior grand steward Dudley L Cook junior grand steward Daniel Dunne Salt Lake grand tyler The officers will be duly installed this evening and the ceremony will be followed fol-lowed by a banquet The reports made at this session of the grand lodge were very satisfactory and met the epectatlons of the members In all respects BIOGRAPHICAL John F Hardie the newly elected grand master has been prominent in Masonry for many years and Is thoroughly thor-oughly versed in all pertaining to the craft He has held many positions in the order and last year was chosen deputy grand master thus being In line for promotion at this session James Murdock of Park City served last yea as senior grand warden He is known to all Masons and stands very hizh in the esteem of his fellow craftsmen George V Schramm Is a prominent business man of Ogden and is very popular and thoroughly qualified for the position of senior grand warden to which he ha been elected C W Morse of this city served last year as grand orator and demonstrated demonstrat-ed his fitness In all respects for the office of junior grand warden Mr Morse is a lawyer by profession I John Shaw Scott the grand treasurer was born at Jamaica Plains Mass I Nov 2 1S2S and went with his parents to Indiana Le went to California during dur-ing the gold excitement In 1849 and exi perlenced all the vicissitudes of life there during these stirring days He I came to Salt Lake in 1871 and has resided I re-sided here ever since Mr Scott was made a Mason in San Francisco in iSIS and coming to Salt Lake affiliated with Argenta loge No1 serving as master for two years and as treasurer since ISIS In 1877 he was chosen grand master of the grand lodge and has served continuously a grand treasurer since 1SS7 and his reelection was a foregone conclusion The name of Christopher DIehl grand I secretary is synonymous with Masonry In Utah In 1S72 he was appointed assistant > as-sistant grand secretary at the reorganization reorgan-ization of the grand lodge and on Oct 7 1S72 was elected grand secretary He ha held that position ever since His work in connection with the Masonic I library is well known and this is but one service he has given the cause of gen Masonry He has served as master of Mount Moriah and treasurer for five years He devotes more time to Masonic Ma-sonic affairs than any Mason in the state and is known personally to almost al-most every craftsman in Utah Frederick Clement Schramm who was reappointed as grand lecturer formerly resided at Ogden but is now In business here For six or seven years he has filled the position to which he is once more called and filled It in a way that has reflected credit upon himself td the great order of which he is an hr acreS representative i M Cushing the grand marshal filled the same office last year most creditably He is the local representative representa-tive of the Denver Rio Grande and has been prominent in Masonry for some years Daniel Dunne who succeeds J Fred Corker as tyler has filled the position of master of his lodge very creditably S D Evans grand standard bearer served last year as senior grand steward stew-ard He is a well known Salt Laker and is prominent In his lodge and in the shrine The other appointmentsvwill all give satisfaction |
