Show PROVERBS XXVII 22 II I I The Tribune still insists that the Wol cott commission was in England on the invitation of the British government and as proof of this says that it has published twenty times the proceedings in parliament on March 17 1SS6 and yesterday morning it published them in part for the twentyfirst time We have read those proceedings every time our contemporary has published 1 them and at times when it hasnt but there is nothing in them that by any reasonable construction can be turned into an Invitation to the United States I to send envoys to enter into negotiations negotia-tions for a bimetallic union of any I kind and If our contemporary had I published those proceedings every day In the year since March 17 189G instead In-stead of merely twentyone times still I those prcceedings would not have amounted to an invitation Our contemporary says that we are I obtuse surely It is perverse We have I exposed the fallacy of the position repeatedly I re-peatedly and shall not weary our renders rend-ers by doing it again So often has our contemporary reiterated its assertion asser-tion about those proceedings constituting consti-tuting an invitation that it appears to have come to believe in it How true it is that Faith fanatic Faith once wedded fast To some dear falsehood hugs it to the last I |
