Show METHODIST MISSIONS METJODIST Apportionment of tile Yearly Appropriations Appro-priations Considered and Passed Upon at Detroit rvo tt DETROIT Nov Apportionment of the yearly approprtelaoas occupied the sessions of the general missionary committee of the Methodist Episcopal church today A proposition was made providing for the reduction of the salaries of the officials of the committee com-mittee but after a long discussion an appropriation of 13000 was made for salaries of secretaries and missionary bishops This is an increase of 4000 over last year an additional bishop and secretary being provided for The appropriation for office expenses was cut from 12000 to 10000 This left a balance A of 951000 for missiona V un alU o Vtl UL > lUUCu for home and 55 per cent for foreign missions the same percentage a last year A special committee will prepare pre-pare addresses to be delivered before conferences and to be widely disseminated dis-seminated for the purpose of raising missionary funds I I Owing to the reduction of the general gen-eral appropriation fund i was found necessary to make a cut of 4 per cent I on the apportionment of last ea for foreign missions In the eastern Asia division China was first taken up and 25000 was apt ap-t propriated for Foo Chow missions a cut of 1100 35000 for Central China a cut of 5000 40000 for North China a cut of 1850 and 12500 for west China an increase of 1700 Tonight there was a platform meet inir in the Central M E church at which Dr H G Jackson and Bishop H 1V Warren delivered addresses on 4 Our Domestic Missions I |
