ar-rived in the afternoon mail yesterday created considerable excitement in the post and was the cause of several hasty private telegrams to Washington Washing-ton I says The Register has obtained some further fur-ther information a to the proposed movement of infantry troops This information in-formation relates to the Fifteenth Twentyfourth First and Second I is to this effect The Fifteenth is to relieve i re-lieve the Twentyfourth The Twenty fourth is to go to California taking the stations of the First which will be transferred to Fort Douglas The relief re-lief of the Fifteenth will be the Second Here positive intelligence halts and speculation takes up the march Remembering Re-membering however what General Miles was quoted in the Register assaying as-saying some time ago that he had proposed pro-posed anumber of short hauls to the secretary of war rather than a few secetar long hauls i is not difficult to re son out that the proposition is to send the Sixteenth to Fort D A Russell and the Eighth to Omaha As the Register has said Secretary Lamont has not fully decided on the exchange programme He may not issue any orders or-ders on the subject until congress adjourns ad-journs I congress remainin session late in June the secretary is likely to act before the present fiscal year expires pires A new order directs that the regiment regi-ment will go in the field for four days The usual distance fifteen miles will be made the first day A camp will then be made for two days during which field maneuvers will be practiced prac-ticed the battalions moving independently indepen-dently and in opposition to each ther The fourth day the troops will return to the post marching a fifteen miles The new post commander Colonel Theaker ha already made a number of changes in the personnel of the post and i is said there are more to come Two privates connected with the officers club have been relieved and it is probable that only civilians will be employed in that institution The rumor that was rife for a day the the effect that post NO 6 would betaken be-taken off during the day time was premature Post No3 or post No2 the abode of ghosts and goblins stand a better chance to be abolished The new gymnasium drill seems to meet with general favor only a small percentage of the command the gray haired element protesting Each man attending gymnasium drill will be measured today find again at the end of six months to ascertain the changes and improvements made in him by the drill a Passes will hereafter be issued to I each man separately and he will
