which have proven I highly successful The machinery on the ground consists con-sists among other things of a first class engine and boiler a large Blake cass I crusher Wall rolls grizzlies screens and elevators The only thing lacking is leaching tanks and the building Work will be commenced Friday or I Saturday in grading the m > llsite and as the company has the necessary means on hand for building there will I be no delay in pushing the enterprise to a finish I is estimated that not more than C000 will be necessary to I complete the mill McCartney Jenkins have commenced I com-menced Dividend I The Mercur company at its regular monthly meeting held yesterday declared I dared its usual monthly dividend of 18 cents a share or 36000 payable on I the 21st inst This is dividend No 38 and when paid will bring the total disbursed by the company up to 994000 being only 6000 short of a round million which is an excellent showing for a mining enterprise enter-prise that was laughed to of molten slag entirely destroyed the plant of the Deadwood and Delaware smelter There was little fire protection protec-tion and the building burned without interruption Several > cars belonging to the Burlington arid Elkhorn roads were destroyed also a bridge on the Burlington tracks The loss to the smelter company is put at 230000 with insurance of 5100000 The railroad losses are about 10000 Four hundred men are thrown out of work at the smelter and a number of mines will be shut down Dr Carpenter Car-penter the local manager says the smelter will be rebuilt Silver and Lead The silver and
