Show euntMG MINING IN PEEPSTONE Possibilities of the Camp Are Promising Prom-ising and Encouraging I has been some time since much has been said regarding Peepstone district dis-trict over the range of mountains east of Mercur hut while the camp has been abandoned during the past year or so to a certain extent there are still those who have faith in its future outcome and who claim that such outcme strong and heavily mineralized ledges I will surely lead to something good with depth among the number being William Will-iam G Taylor of this city who renewed newed operations in the camp a few vreks ago in the development of the j Monitor group and who was in Salt Lake yesterday with samples of rock 1 which appear to be gold bearing and upon which fire and chemical tests are now being made In speaking of the outlook for the Monitor Mr Taylor states that in the bottom of a 60foot incline shaft he has uncovered from 1 to 12 feet of black shales of a talcish nature that Is heavily heav-ily impregnated with iron pyrites and which he believes will carry good gold values although the indications are that this slate Is Only the capping of the vein and what gives strength to this theory is the fact that a few feet away there Is a strong ledge of decomposed decom-posed quartz closely resembling the product of the GeyserMarion mine at Mercur This ledge crops boldly at the surface and Is all of 50 feet in width i and grassroot samples taken at the I time of the discovery of the property gave most encouraging gold values I when submitted to the assayer 1 A 12foot Incline has been sunkon this ledge and the samples of ore from the face brought in by Mr Taylor have r a healthy look and the appearance of carrying encouraging values for this I depth Mr Tavlor will return to the mine < afterymaklng the desired test the intention I In-tention being to push development work this summer and he will not lack for company as he states that already I quite a number of mining men and I prospectors aro at work in his prospector ari near II r vicinity and that the noise of the blasts resound from hill to hill through t f 1 out the district showing that there are f others who also have faith in the camp |
