Palmer on his return home from Indianapolis where he was nominated for the presidency a the candidate of the National Democratic party Although the reception was under the auspices of the local sound money Democratic club i was nonpartisan in its nature Senator and Mrs Palmer were met at Illinopolis by a committee of citizens of all partIeS headed by Colonel Col-onel N B Wiggins exMayor Chas E Hay State Senator Shumay and C C Brown As the nominee stepped from the train he was showered with roses thrown oy the ladies on the platform and the compliment was gracefully acknowledged by him The party were taken i two carriages each drawn by four black horses and eac Iraw about 1000 citizens citi-zens marl ng behind a band proceeded to General Palmers residence where Senator Shumay in a few appropriate words welcomed the nominee In the name of his neighbors and congratulated him upon his nomination General Palmer responded re-sponded very briefly saying that he felt that the Geor-gia Tennessee and Alabama delegations I Headed by the Alabama delegation and a band the delegations formed in line and I escorted Governor Buckner to the Vi escored I mar hotel The party were loudly cheered Sound Money Heiuldnniters INDIANAPOLIS Ind Sept 4 Chairman Chair-man Bynum of the national convention of the sound money party announced this morning that headquarters would be I located in Chicago with a branch in New York This decision was reached at a j I conference of leaders ls the movement i held in the quarters of the national committee com-mittee in the Grand hotel this afternoon after-noon Bynum will name the executive committee of the national committee in a few days Active work will be done Literature will be circulated and speakers Literture put field Both candidates will be called upon to make some speeches but no oratorical tour will be attempted It id conceded by the active men in I movement that the fight is to be made in the states of Wlinois Indiana Iowa Kentucky Michigan and Wis Kentuck consin Iowa and Chicago was decided to be the best location from which to direct the campaign Mr Bynum will name the executive committee of the national ultimate success I is my opinipn that the ticket nominated representing rep-resenting as it does the blue and the gray signifying union forever could not have been improved The character ter of the two men is beyond reproach They represent true soldiery and honest public servants In reply to a question as to how many of the states represented in the convention con-vention will place electoral tickets in the field Mr Bynum said ° I think nearly every state will do so Of course in a few sections where the cause is absolutely hopeless no electoral elec-toral ticket will be named We will make our fight where it will do the most good Although it is too early to give any figures of our strength still I believe 1500000 votes is a conservative conser-vative estimate of what Palmer and Buckner will receive In November At a meeting of the state central committee of the National Democratic 1 f party today a decision was reached to the effect that it would be Inexpedient Inexped-ient to put a
