Show THE NINETEENTh CXnVTCIlV CLUB The Nineteenth Century club of Provo met on Friday afternoon with Mrs Ross Mrs Bartow the vice president presided Miss Florence Pemberton read an excellent paper entitled George Sands This noted French writer was born in Paris in 1S04 Her home life was very pleasant and she did not seek popularity but was contented with the society of a few friends She was shy and reserved yet one would not so judge by her writings She died in 1S70 The FrancoGerman War was the subject of a talk by Miss Ida Jones During that period of 187071 France was ruled by Napoleon III and Germany Ger-many by Wilhelm I The causes and results of this war were clearly shown I and sketches were given of the rulers I and prominent men of that time Miss Helen BrInkerhoff reported the domestic news and Miss Josephine B Kellogg the foreign The new year book will soon be completed com-pleted and much time was given for discussing the course ot sludy for the coming year The club has accepted the invitation of Mrs Coray to meet with her during dur-ing the months of May June and July Those present were Mesdames Ross Bartow Wedgwood Monahan and Coray Misses Pemberton Jones Thompson Josephine and Alice Kellogg Kel-logg Brown Brinkerhoff and Jennie and Frankie French |
