Show I fntcrH in Ciilm 1 Madrid April 4A dispatch front I Cub states a filibustering steamer was run ashore near Duabas a short distance I 1 tance east of Baracoa near the eastern extremity of the island and twenty two rebels were landed Generals Maceo Cromnet and Valdez and two sailors belonging to the steamer were captured by the Spaniards They stated that the filibusterers had killed i the captain of the vessel for refusing to land them at the places they desired de-sired > Senor Dupuy de Lome the newly appointed ap-pointed Spanish minister to the United I States left Madrid last evening with I Marshal Martinez de Campos He will accompany the marshal to Cuba and I will proceed thence to Washington The l government has instructed the minister to act with cordiality towards and to I avoid friction with the American government gov-ernment He is also instructed to do his utmost to counteract filibustering I and to move the unfriendly impressions i impres-sions of the American press in regard I to Spain and the Cuban question |
